Google Finishes Mandatory Arbitration in $310M Sexual Harassment Settlement

Google parent company Alphabet has agreed to dedicate $310 million to diversity, fairness and inclusion efforts as part of a settlement with shareholders soon after many executives in the company, including its former leading lawyer, faced allegations of sexual misconduct or discrimination.

The deal, declared Friday, settles a stockholder derivative lawsuit filed in San Mateo County Exceptional Courtroom in January 2019. Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll in Washington, D.C., and Berman Tobacco in San Francisco represented plaintiffs in the match who claimed Google fostered a “culture of concealment” that led to cover-ups of sexual harassment at the optimum stages of the corporation.

The settlement place an finish to Google’s plan of necessary arbitration over harassment, discrimination and retaliation promises. It also boundaries the use of nondisclosure agreements so that the tech company’s workforce can overtly go over the facts of an incident and the reporting system.
